Job Summary

  • Setup Toyoda CNC Grinder, establish efficient grinding passes, wheel dressing cycles, develops grind setup cards and technique cards and efficiently manages production.
  • Troubleshoots jobs in progress on machine when problems such as wheel speeds, tolerance problems, finish problems and program problems occur.
  • Edits and adjusts program at machine if needed. Saves adjusted program into memory at end of run.
  • Fills out Setup/Program sheet and maintains CNC grind files by part number.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine holding requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and grinding methods and sequences.
  • Mounts, aligns, and secures wheels, attachments, and work piece on machine.
  • Selects and installs centers and dogs in machine.
  • Loads programs in machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from data base.
  • Calculates and sets machine controls to position grinding wheel in relations to work piece and to regulate factors, such as depth of cut, speed, and feed and coolant flow.
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machine to change parts and setup according to required grinding sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using   precision measuring instruments.
  • Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance grinding.
  • Showing up on time and staying full shift to ensure set-up efficiency and to maintain production schedule
  • Operates machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programing is faulty or machine malfunctions.
  • Discusses programming errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.
  • Performs machine maintenance.
  • Communicates with co‑workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts, if required

A minimum of 2 years’ experience running OD Grinders in an Aerospace setting
